Incredible: it's nonsense

'It is exciting to have a real crisis on your hands, when you have spent half your political life dealing with humdrum issues like the environment.'

Sick Jokes

Global Heaters on a patio

A Global Heater

There are few more ridiculous wasteful and obvious sources of global warming - in both senses - what percentage of the heat produced by these things just goes straight into the air?

If you look at the specifications on one of these patio heaters most produce at least 40,000 btus. (British Thermal Units).

The smallest home furnace I could find (the Trane XR90 gas furnace) is rated at 38,000 btus.

A patio I saw recently had five of these heaters.

So the energy that could be used to heat 5 whole houses is being thrown into the air. Quite disgusting. Speak to those places using these things and tell them how wastefully immoral they are. Boycott businesses that use them.

'News' which isn't and shouldn't be

Heard on CBC radio article about Venice and how the rising water level is threatening the city:

Well we'd better fly over there while there is still time to see the city....

Here's an example of how you can be fooled............

You are merrily searching the internet for information about global warming and so on.

You come across a page such as this one from France, nicely translated into English too, looking at simple ways of cutting emissions, comparing France to other European countries, and even making gentle patriotic jokes about a healthy competition in reducing CO2 levels.

Climat Mundi French/ English site

then you click an internal link to find that it's really an OFFSETTING (aka bullshitting) site.

These are the projects they 'support'.

High efficient stoves in Eritrea: This project replaces traditional cooking stoves with improved stoves that use half the amount of wood fuel for people who cannot afford the capital cost of the stove.

Electricity from biomass in India: This project produces renewable electricity from agricultural residues. The project activity generates additional income for local farmers thanks to payments for the residues and the creation of jobs for the handling and transport of large quantities of biomass.

Biogas extraction in Australia: This project consists of producing electricity from biogas extracted from a landfill.

Well how dare we patronizingly tell people in Eritrea how to reduce their emissions - I believe that coutry has the second lowest level in the world.

Does Australia really need international aid? Sure they are the second largest major emitter, but how does sending them money to assuage the guilt you feel about your recent car journey change anything? Has your behaviour changed; has one Australian's behaviour changed?

Not sure about this Saskatechwan carbon capture project....

Turn to CO2 Science for all your greenhouse gas reporting needs.....?

Temperature Record of the Week! This issue's Temperature Record of the Week is from New Castle, PA. During the period of most significant greenhouse gas buildup over the past century, i.e., 1930 and onward, New Castle's mean annual temperature has cooled by 1.08 degrees Fahrenheit. Not much global warming here!

Just nuts? CO2 Science 'reporting'.... Temperature drop of the week........ Just nuts? CO2 'Science'

Here it begins to get really murky; The above mentioned CO2 site is run by four relatives - the Idsos.

This is where Source Watch says the Idsos get the money to run the site - Exxon.........
